The history of UNAAB dates back to 1961 when it started as a training and research facility at the Oke Mosan premises of the Abeokuta Grammar School. The institution was initially known as the Federal University of Agriculture, Abeokuta (FUNAAB) and eventually gained independence as a full-fledged university in January 1988.
