History

Mississippi Valley State University, also known as MVSU, was founded in 1950 as a historically black college. It initially started as a branch of Alcorn Agricultural and Mechanical College. In 1964, it gained independent status as Mississippi Valley State College and eventually achieved university status in 1974. Throughout its history, MVSU has been dedicated to providing quality education and empowering the local community.
